Submit an Abstract

Online Abstract Submission – Open 31 May 2016

Authors or organisations interested in submitting a paper or poster at the 3rd Australian Long-Term Unemployment Conference are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 300 words outlining the aims, contents and conclusions of their paper or presentation.

All proposals will be reviewed by the program committee. Presentations will be selected to provide a program that offers a comprehensive and diverse treatment of issues related to the conference theme. Authors will be notified by e-mail of the outcome of their abstract submission.

Note: Presenting authors for oral and poster presentations are required to register for the conference and pay. A discounted registration is offered for all presenters.   Speaker and poster registrations must be paid by Friday 30 September 2016.

Abstracts should relate to the conference topics

  1. Early intervention
  2. Real solutions: programs and tools for organisations
  3. Behavioural aspects: relationship between mental health and the long term unemployed
  4. The lived experience and support: housing, Centrelink, training
  5. The marginalised unemployed: ATSI, LGBTI, rural and remote, people with disabilities, multicultural groups
  6. Issues affecting specific groups: young school leavers, mature age, untrained, over qualified university
  7. Future of Work: the changing face of work and the workplace
  8. Understanding occupation
  9. Preparing people for work
  10. Job availability: engagement with employers
  11. Employment Best Practice: case studies from Australia and Overseas
  12. Industry expectations and requirements

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations should be of 30 minutes duration (20 minute presentations & 10 minute discussion). Papers not selected for oral presentation might be given the option of poster presentation.

Poster Presentations

Poster presentations are visual displays of material to be presented and constitute an interactive and communicative medium, usually combining text and graphics information. Posters may be on any topic relevant to the conference themes. Posters will be displayed in the exhibition area and for the duration of the conference. It is expected that presenter should be available during meal breaks to discuss it with conference participants. Specific information regarding size and mounting requirements will be provided with the notice of acceptance.

Poster presenters are entitled to the discounted speaker registration.

Terms and Conditions for presenting at the 3rd Australian Long-Term Unemployment Conference
All presenting authors will be required to register and pay in order to ensure their presentation is included in the final program. A discounted registration is available to all presenters. The deadline for presenting author registration is Friday 30 September 2016.

By submitting an abstract you give consent to publication of the abstract in conference material, including but not limited to, the conference blog, book of abstracts, email promotion.

All abstracts must be original work. The author is responsible for the accuracy of the abstract.
